This tutorial will introduce you to what a database is, and how to go about selecting one to retrieve journal articles on a given subject. It will also cover how to construct a basic search and interpret search results. After completing this tutorial, you will be able to: * Identify different types of databases (general and subject-specific) and the kind of information they provide * Locate databases through your home library's web page * Select a database appropriate to your information need * Perform keyword searches and understand the difference between keyword and subject searching * Connect search terms together using the boolean operators AND and OR * Evaluate search results * Distinguish between popular and scholarly articles * Determine if your library has an article using information from a citation
